Megan Moore (she / they) is a visual artist based in Tiohtià:ke-Mooniyang / Montreal. Throughout her practice Megan repurposes and manipulates imagery from her personal archive which consists of snapshot digital photography spanning over a decade and ephemera collected by family members. From this intimate starting point Megan reflects critically on the relationship between photography, grief and time. Their digital image making practice pulls from analog alternative photographic processes in an effort to regain the sense of contingency typically lost within digital methods. The resulting works are immersive and contemplative video and photography installations that highlight the role of decay and preservation inherent within lens-based mediums and reflect on their potential and promise to hold onto the past.

Megan has exhibited in Canada (FOFA Gallery, Orillia Museum of Art and History, Toronto Media Arts Centre) and Europe (Maison de la Photographie, France, Ulster Museum, UK.) In 2016 she received the Joseph Armand Bombardier CGS Master’s Scholarship and the FRQSC master’s scholarship in 2017. In 2019 they won the Emerging Photographer Award from the Robert McLaughlin Gallery in Oshawa, Ontario. Megan holds a BFA in photography from Concordia University, an MFA in studio arts from the University of Guelph and is currently working towards a Master's in Information Studies at McGill University.
